Dear film score fan,
Since it's obvious I'm not finding the time to write any actual reviews, I've repurposed this site as more of an album cover archive. Fun to browse, maybe even useful for some people. All of the scans are my own - someone asked me how I got them to look so nice. One of the tricks is to straighten them! Slightly crooked scans do nobody any favors. :)
So now the index pages are long lists of titles in various forms, with tiny cover thumbnails - click on those thumbnails and you will get a page with a (usually) much bigger cover scan. Some of the older things in my collection don't have big scans, though, sorry about that. Everything is updated through the end of 2010 - the last releases of the year from Intrada and Varese Sarabande are here, for example. And my collection has really, really expanded lately because there's so much good stuff coming out! Also updated is my Favorite Scores list.
By the way, my second book has been published. It's called Silver Scream Volume 2: 40 Classic Horror Films 1941-1951. As before: It's about classic horror films. It's packed with information on great films such as Dracula and Bride of Frankenstein, and because I'm a movie music nut, I deliberately took the opportunity to talk about the music in each movie in some detail (where possible). Included in the book are biographies for the following music folks: Dr Hugo Riesenfeld, James C Bradford, Bernhard Kaun, Wolfgang Zeller, David Broekman, James Dietrich, Karl Hajos, Edward Ward, Franz Waxman, Dimitri Tiomkin, Clifford Vaughan, Frank Skinner, Hans J Salter, Alfred Newman, Gerard Carbonara, Charles Henderson, Ralph Freed, and Charles Previn. That should give you an idea of the level of depth I've given when focusing on all the other people behind these classic films!
